Make sustainability part of your design process: SolidWorks® Sustainability provides a practical tool for implementing corporate sustainability strategies at the product design level. The software considers four key environmental indicators: carbon footprint, total energy consumed, impacts to air, and impacts to water.

Ask “what if” questions as you design: Similar to simulation software, SolidWorks Sustainability lets you model different materials and design solutions, and then compare the effects.

Work seamlessly within the SolidWorks design environment: Fully integrated with the design process, SolidWorks Sustainability lives within the SolidWorks Task Pane, so assessment can become a natural and effortless part of your workflow.

Apply the science of Life Cycle Assessment earlier in the process: SolidWorks Sustainability is based on the science of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a formal methodology for measuring a design’s environmental impact over its entire life cycle, including raw materials extraction, manufacturing, assembly, transportation, product use, and disposal.

Detailed Reports:  You can automatically generate a detailed sustainable design report directly from SolidWorks Sustainability in order to share the sustainability profile of your product with management and all departments within the company.

Gold-standard environmental database: Through a partnership with the pioneering LCA firm PE International, SolidWorks utilizes the extensive GaBi® life cycle inventory database. This is the worldwide gold standard for environmental impact data, which they have built with scientific expertise and empirical data gathered over decades.

Automatic environmental reports: Instantly generated reports let you demonstrate the real, verifiable steps you’ve taken to minimize your design’s environmental impact.

Evaluate different use scenarios. You can easily change usage factors, which often have a major impact on sustainability, such as design lifetime and duration of use.

Easily compare materials. Simply click to compare like materials for environmental impact and for standard engineering properties like thermal conductivity and yield strength.
