SolidWorks® Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) centralizes the storage of all your engineering data and related files to dramatically reduce the time you spend searching for parts, assemblies, and drawings, while also helping you drive design reuse. As part of the SolidWorks suite of product development solutions—covering design, simulation, sustainable design, technical communication, and data management—EPDM provides a central, indexed repository for fast information retrieval. It offers version control for minor changes and major design revisions to prevent data loss, and integrates workflows to automate your design process for more efficient review and release of final designs.

Implemented in a fraction of the time required by other data management solutions,SolidWorks EPDM can scale from small workgroups to hundreds of designers located in offices anywhere in the world.

Easy to implement and fully customizable, SolidWorks Enterprise PDM efficiently guides your product teams through your development processes, ensuring that team members have access to the right files at the right time. Localized vault replication and support of multiple CAD applications provides unmatched productivity, no matter the size, distribution, and diversity of your organization.

Included with the SolidWorks Premium and SolidWorks Professional design packages, SolidWorks Workgroup PDM software helps individuals and small workgroups manage projects and control their design revisions.

The simple data vault of Workgroup PDM provides file security with little IT support, and its tight integration with SolidWorks design software makes Workgroup PDM easy to learn. Advanced search, notifications, and secure file access increase productivity across your entire design group.

n!Fuze® for SolidWorks® software is a CAD-specific sharing solution that intelligently supports your design process, by enabling you to create an online workspace, upload files, and invite others to collaborate. n!Fuze® for SolidWorks® manages the files you post, including part, assembly, and drawing relationships.

n!Fuze® for SolidWorks® allows you to collaborate with other subscribers whether they use SolidWorks CAD software or not. The software is simple to use, quick and easy to start up, accessible from anywhere, and avoids the need for costly IT infrastructure and administration. n!Fuze® for SolidWorks® sharing and collaboration tools utilize security measures designed to minimize any unauthorized third party access to the data on your workspace. For further security, it is recommended that you back up your data regularly.

Search for data in multiple ways: Using parameters such as document or file name, contained data, or custom properties like part number, description, and current workflow state (i.e., released, in process)

Secure Data: Prevent designers from accidentally overwriting files through integrated version control

Produce bills of materials (BOMs): Easily produce customized bills of materials (BOMs) for individual departments

Control more than just CAD: View and print documents from more than 250 file types, including major CAD formats, Microsoft® Office, images, and animations

Easy for all users to use: SolidWorks Enterprise PDM uses Windows® Explorer and has virtually no learning curve for your end users. Your designers access the secure vault in the same way they would any other drive or folder on the system. Tight integration with SolidWorks and other CAD applications gives you visibility into the status of all design files, so you can easily see which files are being used.

Workflow and Sign-offs: Create Administrative processes like approvals and sign-offs. Use automation and graphic modeling tools to minimize document management administrative work. Model company workflows and processes using an intuitive graphic Instantly access audit trails to meet internal and external reporting requirements, document quality control and standards compliance, and drive process improvement.

Automatic File Creation: Automatically create files in common formats, such as PDF or Excel Spreadsheet containing all the manufacturing information required, at the end of an approved process

Collaborate without boundaries: Product development organizations can span continents and time zones. SolidWorks EPDM creates a single collaborative community regardless of distance and location.

New User Settings dialog: The User Settings dialog has been redesigned to follow the User Properties dialog.

Customizable user menus: Administrators (and users with proper rights) can customize what functions appear in the various user menus. Customize all the dropdown menus in windows Explorer and right click context sensitive menus

Contains and Where Used file “Browse to” action: Changes current Explorer window focus to selected file instead of opening a new window.  “Browse to in a New Window” action maintains the previous behavior

Full user name display: The full user name, not log in name, can appear in more areas besides the history dialog Full user names appear in checked out and created by fields, notifications and workflow actions

Where Used “All Versions” display button:  A toggle button is now available on the Where Used tab to show all versions instead of needing to use the drop down menu

Windows Integrated Search: Ability to search directly in Windows Explorer and file dialogs (i.e. Open File) instead of going to the Search Tool§  Line Item Level ID for exported BOM’s: Exported or “Saved As..” BOM to .csv files now has an option to include a level ID for each line item in an indented BOM

Expanded Integration and Platform Support: Support for the following CAD packages will be available with EPDM 2012, SolidWorks 2012, AutoCAD 2012, including 64 bit, Inventor 2012, Solid Edge ST 3, including 64 bit, Support for Microsoft Office 2010 and Internet Explorer 9, 64 bit Enterprise PDM Web Server support.

Draft Sight Add-in: An add-in for Draft Sight is available that provides quick access to many commonly used vault commands.

Replication failover mechanism: Looks for files on other servers if the first replication attempt fails Number of retries before a timeout occurs can be set as required.
